MENA Newswire News Desk: The Department of Tourism and Archaeology in Umm Al Quwain has launched a community-driven initiative aimed at constructing an ecotrail in the Umm Al Quwain Mangrove Reserve. This collaborative effort is part of a broader strategy to promote environmental sustainability, with the initiative organized in partnership with Emirates Nature-WWF. The announcement coincides with World Tourism Day, highlighting the significance of the reserve in promoting eco-friendly tourism.

This community initiative emphasizes the crucial role that individuals and organizations play in protecting natural resources and fostering social responsibility. The ecotrail project is designed to encourage local participation and create an opportunity for the public to contribute directly to environmental conservation efforts in the region.

Prominent local figures, including Mohammed Essa AlKashf, a member of the Federal National Council, joined the initiative alongside a group of volunteers. Participants helped in preparing the trail and organizing the surrounding area, aiming to enhance the visitor experience while raising awareness of the reserve’s ecological importance.

As part of the initiative, an educational workshop was held to inform participants about the vital role they play in safeguarding the environment. The workshop provided practical information about environmental conservation and underscored the significance of community involvement in sustaining the region’s natural beauty.

The construction of the ecotrail aligns with the goals outlined in the Umm Al Quwain Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy 2031, which focuses on maximizing social and economic benefits for both present and future generations. The strategy also aims to preserve critical ecosystems, such as mangroves, which play an essential role in maintaining biodiversity and protecting the coastline.

This initiative comes as part of a broader push by the government to enhance public awareness and involvement in environmental sustainability. The Department of Tourism and Archaeology, along with its partners, continues to work on initiatives that balance tourism development with ecological preservation. The ecotrail project is expected to draw both local and international attention, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to experience Umm Al Quwain’s natural wonders while participating in environmental conservation efforts.
